Anderson traced the truck to the address of Friedmann’s friend Ferris Marone. The storage crates were in the house. One was labelled “Legal stuff.” Inside the crates, Anderson found not documents but six assault rifles; two shotguns; fourteen handguns; body armor; a 37-mm. launcher that could fire tear gas, flares, or smoke cannisters; and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Friedmann, as a convicted felon, wasn’t allowed to have any of it. Federal prosecutors indicted him on firearms charges.
